Computational Investigation of Combustion, Performance, and Emissions of a Diesel-Hydrogen Dual-Fuel Engine

This paper aims to expose the effect of hydrogen on combustion, performance, and emissions a high-speed diesel engine. For this purpose, three-dimensional dynamic simulation model was developed using reasonable turbulence model, simplified reaction kinetic mechanism chosen based experimental data. The results show that in enrichment conditions, causes complete combustion fuel 17.7% increase work capacity. However, temperature resulted higher NOx emissions. In substitution condition, phases are significantly earlier with increased ratio (HSR), which is not conducive power output. when HSR 30%, CO, soot, THC reach near-zero injection timing also studied at an 90%. When delayed by 10°, IMEP improves 3.4% compared mode 2.4% dual-fuel mode. reduced 53% original study provides theoretical guidance for application rail transportation.
